Airframe and Powerplant technicians keep aircraft safe. As an Airframe and Powerplant Specialist, you are certified by the FAA. Upon graduating, you are qualified to sit for the FAA Airframe & Powerplant exam, and after successful completion, can be qualified for any entry-level Airframe and Powerplant position in the aviation industry.

Learn theoretical knowledge of aviation regulations, flight-control systems, aircraft communication systems, powerplant systems and aircraft engines. Using exciting state of the art technology to diagnose, maintain, and repair aeronautical systems and engines. Some Aircraft Technicians work on jets, others on prop planes and helicopters. There are many niches in the Aircraft Industry. You may enjoy working on a specific area of the aircraft such as the engine, electrical or hydraulics. Airframe & Powerplant mechanics have the authority and ability to work on every part of the aircraft, with the exception of instruments.

The Crimson Aircraft Tech Program is a 17-1/2 month program available as either day or evening sessions. The course is divided into multiple Airframe, Powerplant, Inspection and Review units that cover a specific area of aircraft maintenance and repair. Coupling that with classroom lectures, discussions, and hands-on training, including the completion of individual projects, students receive a well-rounded and enhanced training program.

Crimson Tech features many training aids to help you gain knowledge. Items such as reciprocating and turbine powerplants from Lycoming, Pratt & Whitney, various educational visual aides and hands-on instructional aids, a turbine shop featuring turbines from General Electric, Rolls Royce, Garrett and Westinghouse, a variety of carburetor's, magnetos, turbochargers, propellers, a sheet metal shop containing brakes, shears, pneumatic drills, and riveting equipment. Also available is the composite shop is used to study wood structures, fabric, fiberglass, Plexiglas, and composite structures. Crimson adds an inspection and Review lab which includes: AeroCommander, T-39, T-38, Cessna 150, Pipper Seneca aircraft along with the Hughes 269 and Bell 47 helicopters. And finally, the electrical laboratory used to study electrical circuits, batteries and Eddy current, and ultrasound inspection equipment. All these tools are at your disposal to soar to the education you need to be a top Aircraft Technician.
