Courses Descriptions

Advanced Automotive Diagnostics

WyoTech's Advanced Automotive Diagnostics program can teach students the technical knowledge, communication and advanced problem-solving skills necessary for entry-level employment repairing late-model cars. Some of the topics covered include engine performance systems, fuel management systems, and electrical/electronic systems. The program also includes coursework such as emissions diagnostics, which is designed to prepare students for the California Smog Technician License Exam.

Applied Service Management

Applied Service Management* students can gain specialized business skills to prepare for entry-level management positions in the transportation industry. A few of the topics covered include accounting, communications, shop and safety management, and human resource management. Applied Service Management (Associate) *Occupational Associate in Specialized Technology (A.S.T.) degree offered at the Sacramento campus. In Fremont and Long Beach, offered as Service Management, an Associate of Occupational Studies (A.O.S.) degree.

Collision/Refinishing Technology

Do you like the satisfaction of repairing damaged vehicles? The Collision/Refinishing Technology program covers the basics of repairing and painting cars and trucks. This career training program is designed to provide you with the knowledge, skills and experience to seek entry-level employment in the collision/refinishing industry.

High Performance Powertrains

Students in WyoTech's High Performance Powertrains program can learn about performance upgrades on diesel and gas-powered cars as well as light trucks. Just a few of the topics covered include performance electronics, engine building, and fuel and air induction systems. These skills can prepare students for a range of entry-level automotive or specialty automotive technician positions.

Light Duty Diesel

WyoTech's Light Duty Diesel program can give students the skills, knowledge and preparation for a range of entry-level light duty diesel technician positions. Some of the topics covered include induction systems, electrical and electronics systems, Duramax engines, Powerstroke engines, and Cummins B series engines.

Motorcycle Technology

The Motorcycle Technology program teaches the skills required to specialize in motorcycle service and repair, including suspensions, brake systems, engines, fundamentals of electricity, electrical systems, fuel systems and service. Program graduates can seek entry-level technician positions in the motorcycle industry.

Motorsports Chassis Fabrication

Students in WyoTech's Motorsports Chassis Fabrication program can learn theory and hands-on skills to prepare them for entry-level automotive or specialty automotive technician positions. Topics covered include MIG and TIG welding, frame and suspension modifications, and chassis tuning for different types of motorsports.

Street Rod and Custom Fabrication

In our Street Rod and Custom Fabrication concentration, you can learn the techniques used to customize vehicles and create works of art. You can learn basic specialized sheet metal fabrication techniques as applied to customizing vehicles. Our custom paint training may cover the application of specialized finishes like pearls and candies. Techniques may be taught for special effects including the layout and design of graphics.

Students in WyoTech's Motorsports Chassis Fabrication program can learn theory and hands-on skills to prepare them for entry-level automotive or specialty automotive technician positions. Topics covered include MIG and TIG welding, frame and suspension modifications, and chassis tuning for different types of motorsports.

Trim and Upholstery Technology

This is a specialty concentration for WyoTech students enrolled in the Automotive, Collision/Refinishing and Diesel Technology career education fields. Through intensive hands-on training in a workshop setting, students learn how to repair, create and install trim and upholster for vehicles of all types.
